Mr. Kelly was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1981. He is a senior partner in the law firm of Blois, Nickerson & Bryson and the partner responsible for information technology. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and The Vanier Institute of the Family. He also served for many years on the Family Court Rules Committee and the Board of Directors of Family Service of Support Association. Mr. Kelly has served on the Board of Consultants for the publication, Child Protection Law in Canada (Carswell) and is a contributing author to the text Canadian Child Welfare Law (Thompson). He has written with respect to technology and the law for the column wired@cba for the publication Ad Hoc of the Canadian Bar Association, Nova Scotia Branch.

He is involved in continuing legal education in the areas of family law and information technology and has presented papers in these areas at conferences conducted by the Canadian Bar Association, the National Judicial Institute, the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, the Canadian Judicial Council, and various government and educational organizations. Mr. Kelly has specialized training in mediation, negotiation, and collaborative law, and is a practicing member of the Association of Collaborative Family Law Lawyers of Nova Scotia. He is also a facilitator for the Parent Education Program of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (Family Division). Mr. Kelly is the Canadian Bar Association’s representative on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Centre for Court Technology.
