Born in 1956 in Hamilton, Ontario, Bob has lived in New Brunswick, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. He was the only member of his family not born in Quebec. He graduated from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick with an Honors Degree in English. He obtained his LLB from the University of New Brunswick in 1980. From 1980 to 1986 he was in private practice with the firm of Hood and Associates in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. From 1986 to 1994, he was Crown Attorney for the Province of Nova Scotia. He was appointed to the Bench in 1994 serving the Yarmouth, and Shelburne County areas. Additionally, he performs trials in French throughout the Province of Nova Scotia.
Bob occupied a number of positions in the Nova Scotia Provincial Judges Association including Treasurer, President and Chair of the Compensation Committee. He has also been the Webmaster for CAPCJ and a member of the Compensation Task Force. He will be President of the Canadian Association of Provincial Court Judges in September of 2010.
Bob has participated in numerous triathlons in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He participated in the Chilkat to Kluane international bike relay from Haines Junction, Yukon to Haines, Alaska. Bob loves the Blues and is an avid harmonica player, and Blues guitarist. Bob loves tennis, racquetball, kayaking, cooking and ballroom/latin dancing. He has two children, a son and a daughter who live in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland respectively.
