JADE (Judgments and Decisions Enhanced) is a BarNet initiative. BarNet is a communications management company managed by barristers for legal practitioners and SMEs. Our mission is to provide open access to a range of high quality data and voice communications and electronic research products and services. BarNet is operated by BarNetwork Pty Limited (ABN 32 092 121 198), a not-for-profit corporation.

JADE is BarNet’s first community-based service in its openlaw intiative.

Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI) conference presentations are available here. You will need to download Microsoft Silverlight to watch the sessions.

I mention this resources, as it highlights technology that future lawyers are being exposed to and will potentially drive the services courts will want to introduce: it will influence library services, the web services court provide, etc.

There are sessions on Drupal, social media and apps services as examples and then more specific sessions for the academic learning environment.

Free Access to US Federal Court Decisions via www.fdsys.gov

Piloting is beginning on providing free public access to US Federal Court opinions through the GPO’s Federal Digital System. Federal Courts can leverage the robust search tools at www.fdsys.gov as well as the GPO’s partnerships with libraries across the US under the Federal Depository Library Program.
