One of the technologies we hear the most about is e-filing. However, most courts would be unable to receive e-filed documents as they desperately need a good electronic document management system. This system should be integrated between the court administration and the judiciary.
Therefore, the E-Filing Working Group aims the development of a guide comprised of a model business case with a case study of e-filing initiatives that have been successful in Canada, like the competition bureau, the federal court or the tax court. It’s also looking at the possibilities to quickly develop best practices derived from the case study and to act as sounding board for projects in existence at the moment, namely in Alberta, in Saskatchewan and at Justice Canada.
