Most courts’ websites have been thought, designed and built at the end of the last century and lack the appeal and level of content and interaction people are now expecting from websites. For many of CCCT-CCTJ’s stakeholders, the website is the first impression, and for some, the last, they get from the judicial system. In other words, websites should be used to showcase public access by providing the information that stakeholders are looking for.

The Court Website IWG is developing a guide providing best practices for the development and maintenance of a court website. It will focus on suggesting the ideal platform while providing a default layout identifying the content which should be found on such a site as well as the way in which it should be organised.

The mandate of this IWG could eventually be extended to develop a similar guide for the implementation of a court intranet to manage internal information for the benefit of the judges and court staff.
